On Nov 10, 2006 We published an article about a young man, Dawda Jarju Who needed urgent medical treatment abroad and asked for anyone who could assist him to contact his family. Dawda was suffering from a severe cardinal heart disease, which required urgent overseas medical attention. His father is a poor retired worker at Jeshwang Cemetery, while their mother has a history of mentally illness. Many responded after the article was published on this site including the Miss Gambia USA winner Amie Dibba,Abdoulie Sarr, Sheikh Ndong,Lamin Mbye, Ousman jarju and others. A fund account was set up by Amie and others for Dawda and many fund raising efforts started immediately. Sadly during the efforts, Dawda died yesterday 5th April 2007 from the heart disease. We would like to thank all that responded to try and assist the young man. Amie Dibba,Abdoulie Sarr,, Sheikh Ndong, Lamin Mbye,Ousman jarju and others are deeply saddened by Dawda's death and have pledged to keep the fund account opened to anyone who still wishes to donate so they can forward it to Dawda's next of kins.
