Gambia:Miss Black America Campaign Launched

The Secretary of State for Communications, Information and Technology, Nenneh MacDouall-Gaye, on Monday April 30th officially launched the publicity campaign for the Miss Black USA pageant 2007 at the Sheraton Hotel in Brufut. This year’s Miss Black USA pageant is the first to be held outside the United States of America. This year’s Miss Black USA Pageant, which has been held annually since 1968, is the first to be held outside the United States of America. Mrs. MacDouall-Gaye said that The Gambia was chosen to host this event because of the country’s President “Jammeh’s efforts in promoting the cause of women in The Gambia.” She called the pageant a symbol of Black women’s “liberation.” She thanked the organizers for choosing the country to host the event and called on the press and media houses to help make it a success. The event is to take place between the 30th May and 2nd of June |
