Gambia: Alleged Visa Fraudster Remanded

Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Kanifing Magistrate court yesterday sent one Adama Njie, an alleged visa fraudster, to the remand wing at the State Central Prison Mile ll until May 15, 2007.

Mr Njie, who pleaded not guilty to the charges of obtaining money by false pretence, is alleged to have obtained the sum D28,000 from Yunusa Sey with the pretext that he was going to secure him a visa to Europe.


Answering to questions from the court, the accused said he is not responsible for the alleged offense against him adding that he was mediating for the plaintiff to another man, whom he alleged was paid the money in question.
