Gambia: Empty Barrel Lands Man Into Trouble

Magistrate Amina Saho of the Bundung Magistrates’ Court last Monday handed down a six-month jail term to a Sinchu Alaji resident after admitting responsibility for stealing an empty barrel.

Narrating the facts of the matter before the court, 1674 Ceesay, prosecuting, narrated that it was on 27 April of this year when Momodou Lamin Fatty went to the compound of one Pa Modou Jagne and stole therein an empty barrel valued at D250 .He added that the barrel was stolen at a time when the complainant had already retired to his house.

According to officer Ceesay, when the matter was taken to the doorstep of the police, an investigation was launched and consequently Fatty was apprehended and subsequently taken to Wellingara Police Station.
