The deal has been sealed for Jamaica’s internationally acclaimed reggae superstar, Glen Washington and his star-studded band to stage a concert in The Gambia on Saturday 30 at the main bowl of the Independence Stadium, Bakau.

The brain behind the event, a Holland-born big-time showbiz organiser, John Bloem, told The Point that they have concluded all protocols to bring Glen Washington and his band to perform here, adding that the concert will feature a plethora of topflight artists from the sub- region with reggae giant Frankie Paul as guest artist.

According to Bloem, the purpose of organising the mega concert is to help procure international recognition for local artists.

“The show will help us to scout for local talents so that we can help them to get international exposure. After the Banjul show, we are planning to organise a festival in Holland whereby we will invite some of them to come and perform, ”he enthused.

For his part, the Gambian promoter, Foday Camara alias DJ Focks of Majula Sounds, said that the show is tagged “Africa Link-up Promotion” adding that it will provide a unique opportunity for Gambian artists to showcase their skills and talents.

“Performing alongside great artists like Glen Washington, Frankie Paul will definitely help boost the morale of our local artists,” he noted.
