The Gambia National Squad better known as Scorpions would line up against Cape Verde tomorrow Saturday June 16th, 2007 in Praia in the week five of the African Nations Cup qualifiers, Ghana 2008.

The Scorpions under the command of their Spanish coach, Jose Martinez, left Banjul on Wednesday June 13th, 2007 to Praia via Dakar.

To keep the spirit in the group, Coach Martinez has decided to retain almost the same team that held Guinea to a 2-2 draw in Conakry two weeks ago except Edrissa Sonko, Lamin Conateh alias Babayeh and Abdoulie Corr better known as Paco.

Edrissa Sonko’s absence was due to suspension for receiving two yellow cards while Lamin Conateh (Babayeh) sustained injury in their league game over the weekend.

For Abdoulie Corr (Paco) he has not been reported to camp at the time of filing this report due to some technical problem.

To remedy the situation, Coach Martinez has called Moustapha Jarju (Tubabo) from Lierse in Belgium, Abou Jammeh alias T.Boy from Russia and Yankuba Ceesay alias Maal from Peru to join the team.

The importance of tomorrow’s game can not be over emphasised as The Gambia need to win the encounter, and hope Guinea to hold Algeria to a draw, for them to make it to Ghana 2008.

The Group is led by Algeria with 8 points follow by Guinea Conakry with 5 points, both Gambia and Cape Verde have 4 points but The Gambia has a better goal difference.
