Gambia News: Local Artists Pay Tribute to Fallen Colleague

A memorial show-biz in honour of the late Pa Modou Jammeh a.k.a M J of the Pepper House Crew and Bulldorf Recording Studio in Bakau, will take place on Saturday 8 September 2007, at 12:00 pm, in a grand musical performance to be held at the Terranga Beach Club, Senegambia.

This show-biz is going to be a milestone in the history of Gambian music, as muscians will converge to remember the death of a fallen show-biz hero, M J, who passed away sometime in July 2007. However, some of the Smiling Coast musicians and top-rated

Gambian reggae stars and international musicians are expected to perform live on stage .

In an interview with What's On, Momodou Lamin Jack, a.k.a Ayo of Poetic X, a friend, relative, and a close associate of the late M.J said they formed the Bulldorf Army in the year 2000.

He revealed that, the death of M. J, was a great shock to the whole artists fraternity within and outside the Gambia.

He described M J as the backbone of Gambian show-biz, adding that he was a well experienced artist who had travelled to various countries.

"MJ is very instrumental in national development. He is caring and like sharing ideas and experiences with colleagues.

Life is so empty without him and my world has been turned upside down since his demised," he said in a pathetic tone.

According to him, Lie Ngum, alias Abdel Kadir, a veteran Gambian musician, who also doubles as the proprietor of Terranga Beach Club, has named the music centre stage at the said club after the late fallen star, M J.

He finally invites all Gambian and non-Gambian alikes to this grand musical show-biz in honour of their death colleague, which is expected to commence from 12 noon till 11 Pm at the Terranga Beach Club.

It could be recalled that the late M. J, is the composer of the famous Smiling Coast rythm, which takes the Smiling Coast by storm.
