Seven supporters of the main opposition UDP party rounded up last week have had the case against them dismissed by Magistrate Buba Jawo of the Kanifing Magistrate’s court. The Seven had been arrested and charged in connection with the post election row between them and some ruling APRC supporters in Bakau. Jalika, Menteng, Jai, Fa Kebba and Sireh Bojang; and Ebrima Arra Jatta and Yama Fatty, all residents of Bakau, had been briefly arrested and detained after they burst out in celebration over .the electoral victory of opposition candidate Ousman Rambo Jatta. After prosecutors read out a disjointed and badly written charge sheet in his court on Wednesday 30th January Magistrate Jawo dismissed the charges as “incompetent, ambiguous and full of loopholes” and discharged the seven accused persons.
